Akshay, I follwed your steps exactly on Ubuntu 8.10, but during database creation of Oracle 10gR2, an error pops up, "TNS listener lost contact", and the database is not created. How can I fix it?

The tutorial worked almost perfect with fresh Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid)
I received only one error message at the linking phase; clicked on continue. The rest was problem-free.

Thank you for the tutorial

Note: For those who might get confused when they are asked about the local bin directory, the default is fine [/usr/local/bin]. Just hit enter and it will be done.
